Another Photo Comic Example

Here's another example of how its done. Just a picture I took of my toy transformer. Same technique as the post below. It's a work in progress. With some dodging & burning it will look awesome in no time. I've just been to busy to finish half my projects. But enjoy. Let me know if you have other interests I can show you about. Cheers.

Change Photos into Cartoons - Simple 'How to"

photo comic
First of all you should have an editing program like Adobe Photoshop. Thats what I use here. This was easily done. Just take a photo you like, duplicate the background layer. Set blending mode to 'color dodge' and Invert the colours (ctrl+I). Gaussian blurs 7 pixels. Make New Adjustment Layer > Threshold > value between 230-240. Now you have what looks like a sketch. Colour on seperate layers, with blending mode set to 'Multiply'. Shade using the Burn tool on midtones. Only set it to approx 3% pressure. Then BAM you're done!

More about me

josh 2002
So this is me. Picture was taken back in 2002 I think. Back when I was in Algonquin College, where I studied photography for a 2 year diploma. I still look pretty much the same as in the picture. Except I lost the bandana, and I'm not black & white. My skin is not grey anymore. ...And that was more about me.

An Awesome Wipeout

Here's a series of shots you'll like. A buddy of mine trying to hop a garbage can. He's done it perfect so many times I thought I would use my 3 frames per second to capture it this time.

Canon Vs. Nikon debate

I'm going to get into the age old camera question.
Which brand of Camera should I go with? Canon or Nikon?
To start I will have to assume you've gone digital already.
In this case Canon's Digic processors are rather amazing.
Good for low noise in dim lighting. Nikon also came
back with a sort of 2 x noise filter. You can get both
in any Megapixel range, so no competition there. As for
lens quality I find Nikon takes the lead. Even on low-end
lenses Nikon produces amazingly sharp results. Canons
high-end lenses & luxury edition lenses are also top quality.
So, which to go with? You have to make the choice.
Nikon, with their beautiful assortment of lenses and fast
buffer speed, or Canons excellent colour range and digic
processor? If only you could get a Nikon-to-Canon lens adapter.
Not going to ever happen. Sorry.

I made my decision a few years back.
I got the Canon 10-D. Has a magnesium body, 1600 ISO
and 3 fps. It's a workhorse. For a lens I got a
Sigma EX 24-85mm. Much cheaper than Canons equivalent.

I FINALLY DID IT

That's right. I finally started a blog. Why?
Because it's time to share my ideas with the world.
Time to provide this Earth with interesting subject
matter and rich content. Shorter sentences & not
text that runs all the way across the screen.
I promise that one.

It may take a short while to get my page up & running
full speed. If you have any suggestions on what you
would like to see here feel free to email me.
